Bourlay Historic Nature Park

This preserve in Leesburg protects natural lands as well as fascinating historic sites.

Visitors to Bourlay Historic Nature Park can experience both scenic forests and lakeside trails along with historically significant buildings and sites. There are approximately two miles of hiking trails to explore, including a pier that provides great views of Lake Griffin.

Bourlay Historic Nature Park is home to the historic Bourlay residence which was constructed in the 1930’s, along with a historic “shotgun-style” Florida cracker home which acts as a visitor center.┬áThe property’s history also includes the site of the first steamboat landing and the first Methodist service in the area; and was previously owned by the Lee family (who are responsible for naming the city of Leesburg).

This 88 acre site is located just north of historic downtown Leesburg, Florida. It is approximately one hour drive away from downtown Orlando. The preserve is open from dawn until dusk daily and is free to visit. Pets are not permitted. You can find more activities in the great outdoors around Orlando here.
