Flat Island Preserve

This nature preserve in Leesburg includes over four miles of hiking trails through undisturbed wilderness.

Flat Island Preserve in Leesburg protects more than 2,300 acres of wilderness. The hiking trails trek through marshes, hardwood swamps, and upland hardwood hammocks. Along with more than four miles of well-maintained hiking trails there is a 440 foot boardwalk through a wetland packed with large cypress trees.

Flat Island Preserve is located just outside Leesburg, Florida – approximately one hour west of Orlando. The preserve is open daily from 8AM until sunset and there is no fee to visit. It is important to know dogs are not permitted. Bug repellent is highly recommended (especially in the summer months) to help keep mosquitoes away.
